We would like to mention a few words about a wonderful pet , friend, and a hard worker of the ATF K9 unit.
L.E. was born July 26, 2005 in Oklahoma. She later became a service dog for the Guide Dog Foundation but she just had to much energy! Which was most likely the reason she came to ATF in 2006.
L.E was headstrong and spirited, continually pulling her trainer across parking lots and warehouses. Her trainer spent the “longest 6 weeks of my life training together in Front Royal.”
After training L.E.’s first assignment as an ATF Explosives Detection Canine came 5 days after graduation, the Federation Cup Tennis Tournament in Delray Beach. She performed exceptionally well on her first sweep, then promptly swallowed the training aid I’d put out to work her for a reward!
Her last assignment was a career day at an elementary school for a co-worker of her trainer and his children. As usual, L.E. charmed student and teacher alike.
L.E.’s trainer said, “she may have been exasperating at times, but she was impossible not to love.”
It was unfair that such a wonderful girl was taken from the world on May 10, 2009.
